Scheduling private dance lessons with Gotta Dance

We appreciate your interest in taking private dance lessons with us! Whether you’ve never danced seriously before or are an aspiring professional who’s about to audition for a performing arts program, we’re excited about teaching you and have the expertise to turn you into a better dancer. As long as you’re serious about improving yourself as a dancer, our dance educators can help bring out your full potential.

Dancers going into 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade as of September 2023, are recommended to sign up for 30-minute lessons.  Dancers in 4th grade and above as of September 2023, are advised to sign up for 60-minute lessons.  If you are choosing a 60-minute lesson, please sign up for two consecutive 30-minute time slots to equal a 60-minute lesson for your dancer.  The number of private lessons needed varies for each dancer.  You can sign up for the number of lessons you feel is necessary and your dance educator will suggest more or less based on individual progress once the private lessons have begun.  *Based on previous experience, 6 or more lessons are needed for dancers choosing to advance to a higher level.

Each 30 minute time slot = $60 (1 hour= $120)

Private lessons will be charged to the credit card you have on file with Gotta Dance.

Cancellation Policy

A refund will be issued for a cancellation 48 hours prior to the scheduled lesson.  NO REFUND WILL BE ISSUED for cancellations that occur with less than 48 hours notice.

Dancers at all levels are welcome to sign up for private lessons focusing entirely on strengthening and conditioning.  However, if a dancer’s goal is to advance to a higher level, please refer to the list below as to what the highest level will be in each discipline for learning the syllabus.  We also do not encourage private lessons if a dancer is trying to advance above their grade level and ask that you refer to the Levels page on our Gotta Dance website for a full description of each level/grade correlation.  

Ballet: Dancers advancing to Topaz up to Sapphire. Only teaching through the Ruby Ballet Syllabus. (Highest level you can possibly advance to for September 2023 is Sapphire Ballet.)

Pointe: Pointe Dancers advancing to Peridot up to Sapphire Pointe. Only teaching through the Ruby Pointe Syllabus. (Highest level you can possibly advance to for September 2023 is Sapphire Pointe. This is not for dancers who have never taken Pointe before)

HipHop/Jazz: Dancers advancing to Topaz up to Sapphire. Only teaching through the Rub Jazz Syllabus. (Highest level you can possibly advance to for September 2023 is Sapphire Jazz.)

Tap: Dancers advancing to Topaz up to Ruby. Only teaching through the Citrine Tap Syllabus. (Highest level you can possibly advance to for September 2023 is Ruby Tap.)

Contemporary: Pre-Contemporary and Contemporary 1  (Highest level you can possibly advance to for September 2023 is Contemporary 2.)

Modern: Beginning Modern and Intermediate Modern  (Highest level you can possibly advance to for September 2023 is Advanced Modern.)

ACRO: Acro Grades 1-3 Level 1 & Acro Beginner Preteen/Teen.  (Highest level you can possibly advance to for September 2023 is Acro Grades 3-5 Level 3 or Acro Intermediate Preteen/Teen.)

Street HipHop: No private lessons

Broadway: No private lessons

Please understand that taking private lessons does not guarantee a dancer’s advancement to a higher level.  Advancing to a higher level is based on the progress achieved, completion of the syllabus, quality of technique, and teacher recommendation.  Once private lessons are completed and a dancer has received a recommendation from their private lesson dance educator, they may register for this higher-level class.  Without an official recommendation, dancers will not be permitted to register for specific classes.

Blending Technique, Musicality, and Expressiveness

Dance is the only art form that incorporates the whole self. It can demand the entirety of your body’s capacity for motion and it involves a great deal of brainpower: you’ll learn to follow the music, move your body in time with it, express yourself through the motion of your body, and follow predetermined choreographies. Whether you’d rather dance solo or as part of an ensemble, individual attention from an experienced instructor can make techniques that once seemed impossible become second nature.

We offer group classes and individual private lessons in a wide variety of dance styles – if you’re at all interested in dancing, you’ll find something for you! – including dance styles ranging from tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary and hip hop.
