Miss Simone joined Gotta Dance in 2015. She performed in works by MOMIX, Jeff Hancock, Laura Wade, and Molly Shanahan while studying at Northwestern University, where she graduated cum laude. In 2007, she moved to St. Louis to dance for MADCO (Modern American Dance Company), performing works by Robert Battle, Michael Foley, and John Beasant III. Since moving to Chicago in August 2009, she has performed for Winifred Haun Dancers, VADCO, Thodos New Dances, Chicago Dance Crash, Julia Rhoads, Paul Christiano, and more. For three years, Miss Simone danced with Mordine & Company Dance Theater, where she also served as Managing Director for the 2012-2013 season. Miss Simone taught throughout Chicagoland at studios such as Virtuoso Performing Arts, Irinia Makkai School of Dance, and The Academy of Dance (the official School of Joffrey Ballet). Miss Simone moved to New Jersey in 2014 to accept a graduate teaching assistantship at Rutgers University, where she taught beginning Modern and Ballet while studying for her EdM and K-12 certificate in Dance Education, which she will receive in Spring 2016. She has had the pleasure of working with students at Union County VoTech; High Tech High School; and PS3 in NYC, for which she set a site-specific dance piece that was performed around Richard Serra's sculptures at the DIA: Beacon Museum in Beacon, NY. Fun Fact: Miss Simone's first dance teacher was her Mom, who worked for Gotta Dance for several years. Simone teaches advanced Modern classes.
