At Gotta Dance, we encourage our students to make it to class as often as possible for the propper development of dance technique, and to make the proper progression through each class level. Attending every class allows students to become the very best dancers they can be, and build strong lasting relationships with their teachers and their peers, all the while gaining self confidence and adding to a fit lifestyle.
Excused Absenses:
We celebrate our students who are able to achieve a perfect attendance record. These are students who do not miss a single dance class all year, unless it was missed due to one of our excused reasons, which would be a death in the family, or because our studio was not closed on a day that their family observes a religious holiday. We ask that any student who misses class for a religious holiday bring a note from their Church, Temple, Mosque, etc to their next class so the absense is excused. We also excuse absences when our students miss a class due to another Gotta Dance obligation, such as Nutcracker, Showstoppers, or a community performance. Our Showstopper and Dynamite auditions will count as an attendance if their regular class conflicts with auditions. While we encourage our students to make up their excused absense in another class, it will not be a requirement.
Illness:
We recognize that getting sick is out of your control. If you are just a little sick, we ask that you come to sit and watch others and listen to your teacher duting the class period. This will not effect your perfect attendance. However, if you get sick and need to miss class, we completely understand, but will not be excused. We do hope that you try for perfect attendance next year!
Un-excused Absenses:
We understand that you may need to miss class for any reason or one of the ones listed below. These reasons are good ones to miss class and we respect your choices, however you will not get a perfect atendance award. This is not to "punish" students for missing class, but simply to celebrate the ones who are acutally able to achieve this for the entire year. We garuntee no amount of phone calls or emails to the office will sway our attendance policy or provide any exceptions to the policy. The following are un-excused absenses:
***Family vacation, wedding, birthday, graduation, family or personal confirmation or barmitzfah etc, ill relative or family member, car broke down, parent overslept, parent got caught in traffic, parent couldn't find their keys, the weather was bad but the studio remained open, etc.***
We encourage students who miss a class to absolutely make them up during another class time, to ensure they stay up to date with class material. These make-ups do not "cancel out" an absense, they just keep our dancers dancing their very best, which is our ultimate goal!
We implore all of our dancers and families to try their very best in acheiveing a perfect attendance record. We recognize this is quite a feat, and hope our students give it their best shot for the 2011-2012 season!
