CONCERT PAYMENT DUE DECEMBER 1ST!

The finale for our dance season is our annual Concert. This
year, we have chosen the magical theme of “Fairy
Tales.” We have received confirmation for the rehearsal
and performance dates of June
3rd thru 22nd. Exact dates will be distributed
in class by your teacher after the New Year. We know this will be a
rewarding event for all of our dancers. Dance is a visual art, and the
concert gives your dancer an opportunity to show off the year’s hard
work. It gives everyone in the Gotta Dance family a goal, and is a
gratifying experience for both the performer and the audience.
Preparations are underway and this letter outlines the upcoming
schedule of events.
The concert will be held, as in previous years, at Raritan
Valley Community College. There will be 17
concerts, with each child participating in one concert
dance per class. Though we make
every attempt, it is impossible to have each family participate in the
same show. It takes a great deal of planning to put the shows
together, and our strategy involves matching back-to-back classes and
matching preschoolers with older siblings.
Our shows are around 90 minutes long. The advantage to
children in the same family participating in more than one show is
that they get to watch one another perform. Within the next few
months, we will outline all details regarding the shows that you will
need. Once again, specific rehearsal and performance times will be
outlined and distributed in the near future.
In an effort to help you understand the process of concert
preparation, here is a basic schedule of events.
November:
*Teachers take measurements of
students. We are very generous
with measurements to allow for growth in the spring.
*Thanksgiving
Break: All Studios closed
Thursday, November 22 through
Sunday, November 25, 2007. Classes
resume on
Monday, November 26, 2007.
* Full ($82) payment per class of costume/concert fee is due
BEFORE
DECEMBER 1st. Please
write a separate check
from tuition and clearly mark your payment with “Concert.”
Payments may be placed in the tuition box, mailed to P.O.Box
448, Martinsville, NJ 08836, or phoned in to the office with a
credit card.
*Note:
Costume fees are
non-refundable. Partial
payment will be
allowed for families enrolled in more than 5 classes ONLY.
Please call the office if
you need to make a special
arrangement
for costume payment.
December:
*Costume orders must be placed on
or before January 2nd to
ensure delivery.
*Showstopper
and Dynamite audition information will be
distributed in class.
*Share the magic of “The Nutcracker’” as our students perform
with The Moscow Ballet at RVCC on Friday, December 7th at
4 and 8pm.
*Formal
Classroom Observations (preschool
through Aqua) will
take place
Thursday, December 13th through
Wednesday,
December 19th. We
invite you to
bring your cameras and join
us for goodies at your regularly scheduled class.
*Winter
Break: Studios are closed
from Dec. 24th – Jan. 1st.
Classes will resume
on Jan. 2nd, 2008.
**Inclement Weather—Please call 1-877-23DANCE one hour prior to your dancer’s class
January:
*Teachers
spend a small period of class time introducing
choreography to the students.
*Pictures
of the costumes will be on display in the waiting room.
This is the perfect way to find out what your dancer’s costume
will look like for the concert.
*Students
enrolled in Amethyst level and above may audition for
Showstopper and Dynamite Dance Teams.
Auditions will be held on January 12th (Snow date is
January 13th.)
February:
*Our Syllabus Exams are an excellent method of assessing
student progress. Syllabus
Exams will be taking place:
Basking Ridge
February 2 & 3,Warren February 9 & 10,
Branchburg West February 16 &17.
March:
*Students are continuing with
their technique, but are spending a greater
portion of class on choreography.
April:
*Notes are handed out by teachers in class regarding rehearsal
and performance scheduling..
May:
*Costumes, accessories, and
tickets are handed out. While some
costumes may arrive earlier, all costumes are
guaranteed by dress
rehearsal.
Tickets will not be distributed until account is paid in full.
Additional tickets may be purchased one hour
before performance.
*No
classes will be held on Monday, May 26th.
June:
*Dress
rehearsals and concerts will be held June 3rd-21st.
Weekday shows are at
6:30;Weekend shows are at 11:00,
3:00, and 6:30.
*The
last day of classes is Saturday, June 21, 2008…please
note:
your June’s
tuition accounts for 2 classes, 1 dress rehearsal,
and 1 show.
